Schools throughout Sumter School District have been putting extra focus on a variety of special programs like STEM and other learning curriculum. Furman Middle School offers AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It’s a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college, and Furman this year has more than doubled its student participation in the program, so we stopped by the school to learn more about it.
